Active Older Adults – Pabst

The YMCA at Pabst Farms offers a variety of fitness classes and social activities tailored just for the active older adult.

 


 

Group Exercise

AOA Group Exercise Classes are included in membership!

We have in-person and virtual options available. (Reservations are required for in-person classes.) Please visit our Group Exercise Schedule for the most up-to-date class availability!

SIT TO BE FIT:

Improve fitness while sitting and using your chair for support. Includes stretching, aerobic exercise and strengthening while utilizing hand weights, resistance bands and exercise balls. Beginner to moderately-high fitness levels are accommodated. Y Member FREE

CHAIR YOGA:

A new class to practice yoga while sitting and using your chair for support. Improve muscle tone and balance, all while learning better breathing techniques and reducing stress. This class is ideal for everyone including those with health restrictions, decreased range of motion or physical challenges.

AOA CARDIO FITNESS:

A low intensity cardio workout followed by strength and flexibility that includes floor exercises. Participants should be able to get up and down from the floor.

ZUMBA GOLD:

Zumba Gold uses the same dance moves as the original Zumba class with less intense dance routines designed for beginners and older adults. The longer warm up and cool down allows participants to improve balance, flexibility and cardiovascular strength. Perfect for anyone just beginning a fitness program.

PARKINSON’S EXERCISE:

For individuals with Parkinson’s disease designed and led by Aurora physical therapists and Y wellness coaches. Working on balance, flexibility and muscular strength as well as vocal therapy. Participants must obtain medical clearance and be evaluated by class instructors prior to enrollment.

AOA STRENGTH AND BALANCE (small group training led by a personal trainer; Fee based class, click here to register.)

This class targets the older adult and addresses mobility, strength and balance to improve posture, facilitate the activities of daily living and reduce the risk of falling.

Join our AOA Bingo on Fridays from 1-2:30pm in the Senior Center with snacks and prizes!
