Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is an evidence-based training program that teaches individuals how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges. Similar to traditional first aid, it equips people with skills to provide initial support to someone in crisis or developing a mental illness until professional help arrives. 

The goal of MHFA is to destigmatize mental health issues, provide early intervention, and connect individuals with appropriate care. A 5-step action plan is taught to guide people in talking with and supporting individuals who may be experiencing a mental health challenge.

This course covers warning signs and symptoms of mental health and substance use challenges.

This is Adult Mental Health First Aid designed to support mainly adults although these skills are applicable to all ages.

 It is an 8 hour session either presented all in one day or in two 4 hr half days. If you choose the half days you are required to attend both sessions in order to receive your certificate.

NOTE: Some half day sessions are 8-12 and some are 10am-2pm. Check start time.

Prerequisite: 150-yard swim leading into a 2 minute tread followed by an additional 50 yard swim, and a timed swim that includes retrieval of a 10-pound brick.

Course Schedule: Friday October 9, 4-8pm, Saturday October 10, 8am-5pm, Sunday October 11, 9am-4pm.

Learn how to safely care for infants and children in this hands-on training designed for youth ages 11–17. Participants will gain skills in child care, first aid, emergency response, and behavior management. The course also covers babysitting safety, responsibility, and how to start babysitting as a job. Certification is awarded upon completion.

Please note- Participants will not be certified in First Aid and CPR as an additional certification must be obtained. Red Cross Adult & Pediatric First Aid, CPR, and AED classes are available HERE (must be 14 years of age or older).

After taking this class, you will have the knowledge and skills needed to be a safe, responsible, and successful babysitter.

Designed for kids ages 8–10, this workshop helps build independence and confidence by teaching how to stay safe when home alone. Participants will learn safety basics, how to handle emergencies, set boundaries, and respond to strangers or unexpected situations.

This is a Red Cross lay responder class in which you will learn cpr, aed, and first aid skills for adults, infants, and children. Upon successful completion of course, you will receive a certification valid for 2 years.
