Youth Enrichment and Fitness

At the Y, we love to help kids grow and explore through active learning opportunities designed to engage and inspire!  From classes that focus on science, math, cooking, arts & crafts, healthy choices, fitness and more, kids with all sorts of interests can explore and experience in a fun environment!  Our programs engage kids in creative activities that build artistic and academic skills, develop discipline, problem-solving and decision-making skills, and a sense of achievement and self-esteem.

3D Printing and Design Club (Ages 8-14)

Get ready to bring your ideas to life! In this hands-on club, participants will explore the exciting world of 3D printing and design. Using beginner-friendly software, kids will learn how to create their own digital models and watch them transform into real-life objects using a 3D printer. Along the way, they’ll build skills in creativity, problem-solving, and basic engineering—all while having fun and making something totally unique! No prior experience needed—just imagination and a curiosity to create.

After School Try It Workshops (Ages 6-12)

Looking for something to do after school? Learn something new during our Try It Workshops!  Enjoy creating projects, trying a new activity, or learning a new skill!

  • September 19th – Intro to 3D Printing: Dive into the world of 3D printing in this engaging, hands-on workshop!  Young creators will unleash their imagination as they learn the fundamentals of 3D design.  Participants will explore how 3D printers work, experiment with digital modeling, and watch the designs take shape!  Get ready to create, innovate, and take home a 3D printed project!

  • November 14th – Slime and Science: Get ready for a gooey, giggly, and hands-on adventure into the world of slime and science! Kids will explore exciting experiments, create colorful slime, and learn basic scientific concepts through messy, creative fun. Perfect for curious minds who love to mix, squish, and discover!
  • December 10th – Stitch and Stuff Mini Plush Toys: Kids will design and hand-sew their own mini plush toy using colorful felt/fabric and simple stitching techniques. No sewing experience in needed. Each Child will cut, stitch, stuff, and decorate a one-of-a-kind plush to take home.
  • December 19th – Holiday Photo Gift Making: Turn memories into meaningful gifts! In this festive class, participants will create personalized holiday photo gifts—perfect for family and friends. Using photos and creative materials, you’ll design different keepsakes. A fun and heartwarming way to celebrate the season and make something truly special!

For ages 6-12.  For non-members and participants under the age of 8, parents must pick up from the workshop at the conclusion of class. Member participants over the age of 8 are allowed to be in the YMCA without a parent/guardian present.

Y Makers: 3D Lab Time (Ages 8-14)

Reserve your spot for Y Makers: 3D Lab Time and bring your project to life! This time is dedicated to loading up your design and getting it started on our 3D printers. Whether you’re ready to print your artwork, model, or creation, this is your chance to kick off the printing process with the help of YMCA staff. Simply reserve your time, bring your digital design, and we’ll assist you in setting it up for a successful print. It’s all about making your ideas come to life, one layer at a time!

Perfect for young creators ready to turn their digital designs into real-world objects. Y Makers: 3D Lab Time makes it easy to reserve time, load your project, and let the printing begin!

3D Lab Time Requirements:

  • The 3D Printer is available by registering for lab time only.
  • Members MUST COMPLETE a YMCA 3D Printing Workshop prior to registering for Y Makers. Available workshops can be found HERE.
  • All files must be reviewed and approved by a YMCA staff member before printing.
  • Files must be sliced using Bambu Studio.
  • Maximum print time: 5 hours.  $5 fee per print.  
  • PLA filament only; no PLA carbon fiber.
  • No outside filament unless approved by YMCA staff.
  • Users will receive an email when their project is ready.
  • Completed prints must be picked up within 7 days of completion.
    • If your print is not picked up within 7 days of receiving the completion email, your project will be disposed of.

Participant/Parent/Guardian Agreement:

Printing Guidelines:

  • A $5.00 print fee is required per print, regardless of size or print time. 
    • Print fees are non-refundable.  The Glacial Community YMCA will not offer refunds or credits.  If you cancel or miss your reservation time, the $5.00 print fee will still be assessed. 

Safety, Conduct & Other Policies

  • The 3D printer area is monitored by video surveillance for safety.
  • Misuse, tampering, or damage to the printer will result in suspension of privileges and may incur cleaning or repair fees.
  • No printing of weapons, weapon components, or items that violate YMCA policies.
  • Inappropriate, unsafe, or offensive content is not permitted.
  • The printer must be left in the same condition it was found.
  • Failure to follow these guidelines and policies may result in suspension of 3D printer use privileges and be held responsible for cleaning or repair fees.
