Special Olympics/Adapted Sports
The YMCA Special Olympics/Adapted Sports programs encourage athletes with intellectual/developmental and/or physical disabilities to practice their skills, build their endurance, improve their fitness and learn the rules and regulations of a variety of sports to prepare for possible competition opportunities.
2025 Special Olympics Bocce Ball
Aim, toss, score. Bocce is a team sport of skill and strategy. This is a fun backyard game that everyone can enjoy. Come join us to learn the rules and test your skills at getting your ball closest to the pallina. There is an option for Special Olympics Wisconsin competitions.
We are unable to provide 1:1 assistance during this program. If your participant requires direct assistance/supervision please plan on having someone attend practice with them.

2025 Special Olympics Softball
Hit, Run, and slide into base! We will develop your softball skills through fun drills and games. Players should have some knowledge of the game of softball. All players need their own glove. If possible players should provide their own bat and helmet.
Special Olympics softball competition is an option for all players. You will need to determine your commitment to playing competitively at the beginning of the season. All players are welcome to practice even if they choose not to compete.

Special Olympics Basketball
Dribble, pass, shoot! Learn basketball skills, strategy and rules and prepare for team competition.
There will be more than one practice time. Coaches will determine which practice is best for you participant and let you know when to attend. Practice and game schedule will be handed out the first week of practice. Practices will be held at Crosspoint Church – W380 N6931 N Lake Rd, Oconomowoc, WI 53066

Special Olympics Bowling
Split, spare, strike! Hone your bowling skills and have fun with friends!
Held at Watertown Bowl on Cady Street in Watertown.
Athletes will need to pay an additional fee of $4 to the bowling alley each week they attend.

Special Olympics General Swim Team
Special Olympics Swim Team: Freestyle, backstroke, butterfly! Let us help you to learn or fine-tune specific techniques and strokes for future competitions. Swimmers must be able to swim 1 length (25M) unassisted in the competitive pool.
General Swim Team (6:45-7:45) – coaches will group swimmers by ability and work with groups on improving strokes they already know, learning new strokes, and developing new skills to improve your swim team performance. This is for those athletes who have previously been a part of a swim team. (No class on November 26)

Special Olympics Volleyball: Bump, set, spike! Learn basic volleyball skills including serving, returning and volleying as you participate in this team sport.
Special Olympics volleyball competition is an option for all players. You will need to determine your commitment to playing competitively at the beginning of the season. All players are welcome to practice even if they choose not to compete.
There will be 2 practice times 6:00-7:00, and 7:00-8:00. Our coaching staff will let you know which practice time you should attend. A practice and game schedule will be handed out the first week of practice.
