Our Oconomowoc branch has a new name!
We are excited to announce that our Oconomowoc branch will now be known as the Pete & Nancy Roehl Family YMCA, effective September 1, 2026, honoring Pete and Nancy Roehl for their extraordinary generosity and enduring commitment to strengthening the YMCA’s mission for generations to come.
The initial announcement was made during our YMCA’s 100-Year Anniversary Gala at The Carriage House at Lac La Belle this past Thursday, July 30th, 2026, where nearly 200 longtime YMCA friends, supporters, members, and community leaders gathered to celebrate a century of impact. The evening featured fellowship, dinner, live entertainment, and a program that celebrated our rich history, recent milestones, and exciting future. It was a fitting setting to honor a family whose generosity, leadership and commitment have played an important role in shaping our Y into the organization it is today.
“Pete and Nancy have demonstrated an unwavering belief in the YMCA and in the people we serve. Their service and generosity over many decades have been second to none. We are honored to recognize their legacy through the naming of the Pete & Nancy Roehl Family YMCA,” said Jon Lange, YMCA Chief Executive Officer.
“The YMCA touches so many lives, it’s for everyone…that’s why we’ve been so supportive. We wanted to make sure those who weren’t as lucky as us can be involved,” said Pete Roehl about their family’s support.
Additionally, the Roehl’s serve as Honorary Co-chairs to our Capital Campaign (along with Dirk and Terry Debbink), which was also publicly announced during the gala. The Capital Campaign for the Oconomowoc branch has been quietly underway over the past year, with the community phase set to launch in the coming months. Focused on three key priorities, the campaign will help expand the facility to meet growing community needs, modernize existing spaces, including the locker rooms, and eliminate the remaining capital debt from the building’s original construction. Together, these investments will strengthen our ability to serve the community. We will share more details related to the Capital Campaign in the weeks to come.

You may have already noticed our new exterior signage. Over the coming weeks, we’ll continue updating interior signage and other branding so we can be fully transitioned to the new name on September 1.
While our name is changing, our mission remains exactly the same. The Pete & Nancy Roehl Family YMCA will continue to be a place where everyone can belong, grow, and thrive. This naming represents a meaningful moment in our Y’s 100-year history, honoring the generosity of a family whose commitment to the Lake Country community will leave a lasting impact.
As our Y begins its next century of service, the new name will serve as a reminder of what is possible when people come together with a shared commitment to strengthening lives, building connections, and creating opportunities for all.
