From the Spiritual Development Office
Summers always disappear way too fast. This one seemed especially quick and was filled with so many great events. We experienced the world coming together around soccer as the United States was one of the main hosts for the World Cup. Wow! What an experience that was for our country and our world. And as always, so many local events, including our YMCA’s 100th anniversary, our nation’s 250th anniversary, along with your own personal celebrations that fill your summer calendars. This has certainly been a summer to remember on so many levels.
As we put a nice bow on the summer happenings, we begin to look at fall. School resumes, schedules return to some sense of normalcy, and the seasons start their transition. The old adage of “the only thing certain in life is change,” seems to be as true now as it ever has been.
As children begin this new school year, and adults settle into a routine, be it a normal one or a new one, we want to offer a blessing for you, our YMCA community. From the Spiritual Development office, this blessing will hopefully serve as an encouragement for you in this transition to fall. Taken from “Blessings for the Morning,” by Susie Larson, she writes these words:
Do Not Quit
May the Lord give you gritty perseverance
to stay the course and continue onward
May He give you moments of replenishment
that refresh your soul and renew your perspective.
May He use your wisdom and experience
to bless those who now walk where you’ve walked.
And may He inspire fresh faith
to trust Him in this place He has you.
You are blessed to be a blessing.
You are under His charge and under His care.
Walk in faith today!
We pray that as you transition into this new season, you can do so with a fresh perspective, a strengthened faith in God, wisdom for the days and weeks ahead. And remember that as things change, Hebrews 13:8 reminds us that our Savior remains the same, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” Happy Fall y’all!
