Setting Goals That Make A Difference

We all have goals, right?  Those goals include things like careers, kids, family life, spiritual life, exercise and nutrition just to name a few. I’m going to give you 5 tips that can help you achieve your goals.

1. Pick goals that you are passionate about. Let’s face it, if we aren’t passionate about it, we probably won’t succeed because our heart isn’t in it. There is nothing better than accomplishing something you are passionate about!

2. Write your goals down. Writing our goals down (and I mean really writing, no typing!) helps to cement those goals in our mind.  And we can put that piece of paper where we will see it daily.

3. Prioritize one goal at a time. We all have so much going on in our daily lives, we definitely don’t need to add 5 goals we want to accomplish all at once!  So pick the most important one and start there. You will most likely succeed by only focusing on one goal at a time.  Once you complete that goal, move onto the next.

4. Set deadlines or a time frame to achieve your goals. This is important because if you don’t set a deadline, the chances of you completing the goal will be less and less. This gives us something to work toward and feel good about when accomplished on time.

5.   Reward yourself when a goal is accomplished. Sometimes a goal will have multiple smaller steps - give yourself a reward when you hit those small milestones as well as the big one.  A reward is a great incentive to keep working towards those goals!

As we come to the end of the year, we often think about what we want to improve in the new year or new goals to achieve. Let’s start thinking about that now and get a head start. What have you been wanting to do but have been putting off? What dreams have you been putting off? Is there a fitness or nutrition goal you have but don’t know where to begin? Now is the time - not later! Set your goals and achieve them!
