A familiar passage we often hear at Christmas time. It’s a prophetic word from Isaiah, who lived and spoke God’s word some 700 years before Jesus was born. In his writing, we read this:
“Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: ‘the virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.’” –Isaiah 7:14
Immanuel = God with us
• As you find your way through the craziness of grace filled service today, may you be keenly aware of God’s presence with you
• In your connections with those whom your life will intersect this week, may you see the face of God
• In your family time this Christmas season, may you find space to celebrate the presence of the infinite, who stepped into his creation as a baby, grew into a man, and died as a sacrifice to save your soul
• And most of all, in those times when it’s just you and the world has stopped for a brief moment to give you a quiet space to breathe, may you be overwhelmed by the still, small voice of our Immanuel who whispers your name to remind you of his faithful and constant presence in your life.
